How to raise a concern with your child's teacher

Many conversations between families and schools go sideways because of when they happen: at pickup, standing up and in a hurry.
Write before you talk
A short message saying what you noticed and what worries you gives the teacher time to look into it before answering, and leaves a record of what was agreed.
Describe facts, not labels
“He hasn’t wanted to do his math homework for three weeks” opens a conversation. “He’s lazy” closes it.
Close with a next step
Every conversation should end with something concrete: who does what, and when you talk again.
